Afternoon Tea

So Lauren had mentioned that she had seen some cute afternoon tea spots in the QVB and really wanted to go. I had a little lookie at the prices and its safe to say; tea has never been so expensive. Is it magic tea? Does it cure cancer? Is it derived from pure gold? Definitely not.

I wanted to treat Lauren and I know how much she loves tea so I set about finding a cheaper way for us to go. Ta Dah – enter groupon. I hate that you have to scroll through every deal they have on at the time to try and find the one thing you’re after, but there are some absolute steals on there so putting in a little work isn’t too much to ask.

I found one at the Swissotel right in the middle of town and booked us in.  We decided to dress up a little and ‘make an afternoon of it’ (code for: lets get sloshed).
We received a complimentary cocktail on arrival and they bought over the little cake stand with all the little sandwiches and nibbles.

When we first saw it we both thought; we’re going to need more than that. But by the end, we were both surprisingly full (code for: had merrily forgotten about food when alcohol was next on the agenda).

Well, it wouldn’t be afternoon tea without scones now would it?!

We actually had to ask for them to bring our tea over – but they had a huge range you could choose from all from T2 (a huge tea chain here in Aus). I had something ridiculous like Panna Cotta and Lauren had something equally ridiculous probably containing salted caramel.

All in all, a great afternoon. Enjoyably English.
