Day 2 of The Big Adventure started out with us both sleeplessly searching for a new hostel with clean sheets and functioning wifi. We gathered our belongings and said goodbye to our shared 14 bed hell hole and headed straight out the door.
We booked into a hostel called Matchbox, which looked modern, clean and comfortable.
We were staying in a dorm of 10 double beds so we were appehensive as to what activities we might hear our neighbours getting up to – but it was enjoyably quiet!
The bed had crisp, fresh white sheets and the beds were literally like matchboxes in that you had 3 walls and a curtain so it felt very private.
It also had a beaut little roof terrace…

Matchbox was everything we’d hoped for.
Feeling a lot more confident about where we were staying that night we set off to the MBK centre – a huge shopping mall/ market. There was a whole floor dedicated to phones so I was sure I’d be able to get my phone screen repaired here. We asked at a few stalls to get a feel for prices and tried our hand at haggling. We found a relatively cheap one and I tentatively handed my phone over and the lady told me to come back in half an hour. So we went in search of tea and croissants.
When we went back my phone was as good as new thank god. We bought new phone chargers (the adaptors had been in my backpack) and phone screen protectors and went on our way.
Neither of us had slept well the night before, so we headed back to matchbox for a nap.
We woke up around 6pm and had a nice hot shower and decided to head out for some local cuisine. I found a cute family run restaurant on Foursquare that was a few streets away and we decided to try it.
We sat down and perused the menu…
Lauren got a grape smoothie (fresh grapes blended with ice) and I got a watermelon smoothie (watermelon blended with ice).
We then ordered some crispy chicken with cashews, some pork curry in bell peppers and some stir fried veggies and rice. It was deeeelicious, but perhaps a little spicy for my tastebuds.
We wandered home and got a frozen yoghurt on the way.
We were both pretty sleepy so we just went straight to bed.
Lauren got a beaut nights sleep and slept the whole way through.
I, on the other hand, was up every 20 mins to dash to the loo; I think the phrase ‘out both ends’ will suffice here. Just when I thought things couldn’t get any worse.

Hey you 2 😄
