Day 38 of The Big Adventure, according to Sarah.
At around 6am, after neither of us had gotten any sleep I decided to go and ask at the hotel reception if we could stay another night. We were supposed to be getting the night bus to Siem Reap that night but there was no way Lauren was going to be up to that. Luckily the hotel had our room free that night so we could stay.
Lauren took some antibiotics and tried to get some sleep but her stomach was giving her a ridiculous amount of pain. I felt so helpless as there was nothing I could do to make her better 😦 and I knew that it would just take time for her system to reset itself.
Thankfully, we both managed to grab a couple of hours sleep until lunch time, at which point i thought I’d better go and try to change our bus tickets.
I walked up to the Main Street and went back to the travel agent we’d booked with a few days before. Thankfully, after a few phone calls, she managed to change our tickets to the next night instead. I just hoped Lauren would be feeling better by then, but if not, it seemed pretty simple to change the tickets.
I headed back triumphant to find Lauren feeling much better. The antibiotics had done the trick and she was feeling much better. I remembered from my time being sick at the beginning of the trip that the antibiotics lure you into a false sense of wellness and after they wear off you realise you still feel rather sick. But I was very glad that in the mean time she was feeling better and the pain seem to have subsided.
She stayed in bed all day that day, which speaks volumes, as Lauren can’t even lie on a sun lounger for more than a couple of hours before going stir crazy.
Day turned to night and I had another marmite and crisp sandwich for dinner and we watched some bad tv before we both fell asleep.
