Airport VIPs

Day 46/0 of The Big Adventure, according to Parker (oh-errr).

I finally escaped the throws of work and hopped on the train. What with my massive backpack and smaller backpack and massive grin i was NOT the most popular person on the underground.
I met Freya at Heathrow T2 where she was sprawled across the floor – hungover it transpired. Brilliant.
We went to check in with Air China. It turns out these days you don’t talk to anyone … There are just lots of machines which printed out all our tickets etc for us. We then went to check in our bags where thankfully there was a real person. Freya’s bag was only 7kg – worrying!!
She sent us over to the oversized baggage desk as we had backpacks. The guys there said they were closed and we had to go to T3 to check them in – they did not have us fooled, bantersaurus rexes.
Next stop security. Oddly no queue. We got to put our bags down when Freya decided she needed to chun and there were of course no toilets around. She flapped around until a security guard gave her a bucket. They were so kind even when she told them it was just because she was hungover. It smelt like lucozade and it turned out that was all she’d had that day lolz. Gross. We kept getting VIP treatment because of the moron including water. The lady behind us asked for water too and she got sent to the water fountain herself, LOL!!
I was Raven by now so once saga over we went to the Perfectionists cafe where I had signed up for a mystery visit. I was excited as looked so gourmet and was a Heston blumentile restaurant. I went rogue and had a steak which I never do and Freya had fish and chips. She also had a weird fruity poppy seed drink – I did not enjoy this, she learnt to love it.

I have never seen anyone eat a meal as slowly as Freya ate this one but it worked a treat.

We discovered over dins Freya did not have insurance as she thought I had got it for her! We quickly rectified that.
After persuading the rude waitress that she should in fact re open the ice cream bar for us given we were not told it was shutting, We then had a delicious ice cream sundae WITH PEARLS (delightful little balls of choc).

Next stop boots for water and toiletries. Me and Freya had a spooky moment when we both starting calling for tampons at the same time.
We then went to see if our gate was up with an hour to go and it was on red, last call and a 15 minute walk away!! Obviously we didn’t believe them but I always get stressed in airports so made Freya run with me.
We made the flight. Lost Freya for a small bit but she’d just walked past me waiting and neither of us noticed! – when we got on someone was in our seats. We tried to move them but in the end, because they were moronic we just sat next to them. The man was so sweaty – gross.
We started coasting 20 mins early! We didn’t fly for another 40 mins though!
We had another spooky in sync moment where both pulled out our pinkys simulate noisily to promise we wouldn’t fall out.

The food was the appetising “fish and pasta” or “pork and rice” … Luckily I wasn’t hungry.
We then tried to sleep. A restless night but still slept a bit and time flew by so what more can you ask for. A V questionable beef number or omelette for brekkie – again, not tHank youuu.

The TVs were appalling. Watched 5 mins of 2 broke girls and the struggle was real to get that going.
4 hours in China. How exciting. Decided on the perfume I want to buy. Based pricing on flat whites in starbs as unawah of currency exchange.
Freya napped pre Pizza Hut – cultural vultures.

Had a deep sleep on the next flight in a precious window seat, much needed! We arrived, passed security and our visas were fine much to the surprise of my friends at work (albeit mine started a day late…) and the best news was our bags were there !!!
We hurried into a taxi to the hostel, couldn’t wait to see the gals!! It was sooooo great to see them, it felt like it had been no time at all rather than 6 months!
We got to the room at about 2am and stayed up chatting til about 4 at which point we decided we should sleep…

COULD NOT WAIT FOR TRIP
