Day 52 of The Big Adventure, according to Sarah.
Parker, being the keen bean that she is, had set her alarm for 8am as she was very excited at the prospect of beach time and getting a tan.
The 8am alarm went off not 3 inches from her head, on full volume, and she did not stir. After 5 minutes of ‘Closing Time’ by Semisonic and still no rousing of Parker, Freya rolled over and pushed Parkers phone onto the floor to shut it up. Not even the bang of her phone on the floor (luckily no damage) woke her up!
We all fell straight back to sleep and snoozed until 10.30.
When Parker did finally wake up, she had no recollection of the alarm and was furious for missing so much beach time. We all quickly readied ourselves and headed out for some tanning time.
We found some sunloungers on the beach and set up camp. Lauren and Parker went in search of sustenance, in the form of pastries, while Freya and I napped in the sun.

We sunbathed until around 1pm when we headed to Lanterns to see about this walking tour malarkey. Upon arrival, it was not obvious that there was anyone else for the walking tour and after a few enquiries we found out that you had to book it a couple of days in advance (we’d just thought you could rock up). Fail.
So we decided to head to a cafe nearby and have some delicious iced beverages. Cookies and caramel milkshakes were had all round (except for Freya who had an exceptionally sweet iced coffee).
The girls then decided to head back to the beach and went home for a nice long shower.
When the others arrived home, they all showered and changed and Parker and Freya declared they wanted grilled fish for dinner – they’d made up a song and everything (it went along the lines of ‘I want a little fishy on a little dishy’). With that in mind, we headed out to find a restaurant that would satisfy their craving. After much walking, we found a place that had large fish tanks and looked relatively busy so we went in and sat down. However, it soon became clear they had run out of snapper (the fish the girls wanted) and so we decided to leave.
By this point, we were all RAV. So we chose the next place that looked half decent: a cute little rooftop restaurant, lined with lanterns.
We sat down and ordered almost straight away; this place didn’t do grilled snapper either but we were all too hungry to care.
We had a delicious sautéed corn starter and some rather fishy spring rolls. Then our mains finally came; Freya went for the octopus (bold), Parker went for the squid, I had some chicken squewers, and Lauren had the usual sautéed vegetables.
It was during this meal that Freya’s love of soy sauce became apparent.
She dipped everything in it, and doused her rice in it. She even said she’d drink it straight if it was socially acceptable.
After dinner, we wandered around the city’s night market. It was full of the same old tat that Lauren and I had seen at countless other markets around Asia, but we realised that this was the English Roses first market so we wandered slowly and let them take in all the delights. They ended up getting some intriguing ice cream sticks that looked like extra long mini milks.

Then we headed home, as none of us had slept that well the night before. Apparently there had been a round of espresso martinis after I had left the previous night, which would explain a lot.
