We’re going on a shark hunt

Day 70 of The Big Adventure.
Sam came over and woke me up in the morning and we went over to find that Tod still wasn’t home from last night.

We decided to go for breakfast down at a cafe called Blue Water, which was right next to Fish bowl.

We rode down and asked in Fishbowl on the way if anyone had seen/ knew what had happened to Tod. Nothing. Sam said it was entirely normal and that he wasn’t worried.

We carried on to Blue Water and had some delicious granola and yogurt on the beach. It was bliss.

Sam said he wanted to show me the other side of the island, where it was less touristy and we might be able to see some reef sharks.

So we headed over there on the bike and after a few wrong turns made it to the right bay.

There was a nice hotel right on the beachfront so we decided to have a frozen cocktail before snorkelling.

When we went down onto the beach the water was very very hot. It was almost like swimming in a bath.

And the tide was quite low so we had to snorkel about 50meters over very shallow corals.

Finally managed to get out far enough that it wasn’t too shallow anymore but still couldn’t see any reef sharks.

We lay in the sand and bonded over our shared hatred of American accents (there was a particularly loud American nearby, whose voice was rather intrusive).

At this point we decided to head to a cafe overlooking the water and have some lunch.

It was getting pretty late by this point so we headed home to shower and change and Sam went to collect Guy from the pier.

We all went for a glass of bubbles in Tod’s villa (he’d turned up by this point) and then went out to an amazing Italian restaurant for dinner. Another caprese for me – I was in heaven.

It was such a lovely evening – Sam and Guy told us all about their Borneo trip with their mother and Tod told us what he’s gotten up to the previous night. Many glasses of wine were had and it was a truly lovely evening.
