All by myself

Day 68 of The Big Adventure
My alarm went off at some ungodly hour. Thankfully I’d packed everything up the night before so all I had to do was get dressed and wander downstairs to check out.

Found the taxi I’d booked and told him to head straight to DMK. He was one of those overly chatty taxi drivers which was just what I didn’t want at this time in the morning. When he asked where I was from and I replied England, without missing a beat he said ‘Aaahh Leicester’.

No, not Leicester actually.

After a few confused exchanges it became clear he was talking about football. Oh good, another one.

Made my way through the airport and caught my flight down to Surat Thani without any problems.

I had to wait for 2.5hours for my transfer to Koh Tao from the airport. It was too cold inside with the air conditioning but too hot outside without air conditioning. #Firstworldproblems

Such a dilemma. Ended up heading inside to get something to eat

The coffee shops only seemed to sell coffee and cake or some disgusting looking tuna sandwhiches. Ended up getting a rather gourmet French toast with bananas and syrup. Ooops.

Went to get on the bus which took about 2 hours to the ferry port and then got a 3 hour boat to Koh Tao.

By the time I arrived it was 7 o’clock and it was already dark!

A lovely girl called Rachael was waiting with a sign with my name on it at the end of the pier. She showed me to the car and we drove to The Place(/Palace would probably be more fitting).

She showed me to my private villa and gave me a little orientation. My jaw was literally on the floor.

I had my own private infinity pool, and outside-style shower, a kitchenette with a hamper full of goodies. Safe to say, I was blown away.

They really had thought of everything

Had a cheeky Skype with Mummy Clark to show her where I would be staying – she couldn’t believe it either.

Walked down into town to 7eleven to get a Ham and Cheese toastie (had been seriously craving these the whole time we were in Vietnam). Wandered home with the toastie and ate it whilst sat in my pool. Just because I could.

Sauntered around in my bath robe and watched Bridget Jones’ Diary.

Made me rather sad when it got to the ‘All By Myself’ part. I realised I rather missed the girls already and it had only been a day since I’d said goodbye.

Dozed off to sleep in the biggest bed ever underneath a lovely princess canopy (mosquito net to all you mere mortals).
