Shark hunt take 2

Day 72 of The Big Adventure.
I woke up feeling perhaps a little worse for wear. But after much water was consumed I felt a little better. Went over to see how Sam was faring and he was surprisingly spritely. He informed me that he didn’t really get hangovers and practically jumped out of bed. Lucky bastard.

We decided to have breakfast delivered because I didn’t much fancy leaving the villas – so Sam had fresh fruit, granola and yoghurt and I had a bacon and cream cheese bagel (not toasted, very disappointing). Breakfast made me feel a lot more human and after a couple of hours lying in the sun, I was as good as new.

Guy and Ksenia said they wanted to take Sam and I (who knows where Tod got to) for lunch at a beautiful restaurant that overlooked Sairee beach. I had a delicious Penang curry (my fav) and Sam had the spiciest mango salad known to mankind. At one point his eyes were literally streaming and a passing waiter had to ask if he was ok.

After lunch we headed to a different bay on the other side of the island in search of reef sharks again.

The beach we pulled up at was beautiful and the water was crystal clear.

We went straight into the water and snorkelled around the bay for a little while but still no luck.

Headed home to shower and change before heading to Fizz’s for dinner. I had the most amazing pesto and Gorgonzola pasta (rather indulgent).

A few bottles of wine later and Guy, Ksenia and Tod all wanted to head home so they left Sam and I chatting away in the restaurant. He regaled me with many funny stories from his Leeds days when he ran a night called Tequila. And some huge drama in the national press surrounding a promo video.

We sat there for a few hours until the rest of the restaurant was empty and it was time to head home.
