Peanut Butter and Apple

Day 80 of The Big Adventure.
At 6am I tried to sleep in a hammock on the beach and although they initially seem very comfy they, infact, aren’t ideal for sleeping. It’s very noisy because of the sea, it’s very light because of the sun and it’s rather breezy and dare I say it, cold. So after a few hours of restless tossing and turning (and shivering) I went to try and sleep in one of the sheds. I lay on the wooden floor ontop of my towel and used a tshirt for a pillow. But at least it was dark, and quiet and not breezy. The floor was very hard but I remember someone saying sleeping on a hard floor is good for your back (I was grasping for something positive at this point) and drifted in and out of sleep until 10.30am.

Then I got up and made myself a peanut butter and banana sandwhich. Yum. I’d had a dream about these a few weeks before and hadn’t had the chance (or the resources) to make one. It was delicious.

Then I went to try and have a little sunbathe on the beach (the lack of dress code had to be taken full advantage of) but it was overcast and began lightly spitting.

At this point I figured I may aswell try and get more sleep so went back to the hut floor and thought to myself ‘What is life?!’.

I was woken a few hours later by the family being rather loud on the picnic table outside. Very inconsiderate of them. Went out and Georgia told me she’d seen Ramona eating an apple with peanut butter earlier. I was intrigued.

So intrigued I had to try it. It was surprisingly yum. How unexpected. DSC05529.JPG

After my peanut butter apple I decided to go for a little snorkel just off the beach as the others had said they’d seen some baby reef sharks. I had a little swim around but no baby reef shark sightings for me.
Wid cooked dinner for us again – lentil stew this time, which I surprised myself by liking.

And before we knew it, it was time for Turtle Patrol again.

There was one turtle at the beginning of the night, who came up the beach inbetween the rocks we had to climb over. It made its way all the way up, went head first into the rocks, did a u-turn and went straight back to the sea.
Then there was another at around 1.30am – we stayed until 3am and counted the eggs and then handed over to others and went back to camp to sleep on the floor.
